FORMAT

The future of food is the generic theme of BÉNÉFIQ’s 4th edition. To follow the plenary conference given by the Director of the Future Food Institute in the United States, this second panel will gather key stakeholders of the industry that will be invited to share their insight on the future of food. Attendees will then have the opportunity to ask questions to the panelist via the facilitator.

Biographical Sketch

Renée Michaud holds a master’s degree in plant biology. Her work experience at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and for the Agri-Food Economy Research Centre (CREA) at Laval University led her to set up and manageseveral large scale research projects involving many partners. She helped found the Institute of Nutrition and Functional Foods (INAF) of Laval University in 2006 where she now acts as Executive and Development director. She sees to the Institute’s strategic development in close collaboration with academic and industrial partners, and supervises communication and transfer activities. The Institute collaborates with more than a hundred industrial and government partners. Mrs. Michaud also serves as vice-president of TransBiotech and of the INITIA Foundation. She serves on several other boards of directors and working committees, such as the Observatory on the Nutritional Quality of Food (Observatoire sur la qualité nutritionnelle des aliments), the Quebec Health Alliance (Alliance Santé Québec), AgBiocentre and on the governance committee of the Grand marché de Québec. She is the co-founder of BENEFIQ, the International Rendez-vous on Health Ingredients.

Biographical Sketch

Jean-Claude Dufour holds a bachelor degree in agronomy (1971), a master degree in agricultural economics (1973) and a Ph.D in business from University Laval. He took his specialization in food marketing and distribution from Michigan State University in 1975. He is also Certified Director since 2017 from Le Collège des administrateurs de l’Université Laval.

He begins a professional career at the Quebec Ministry of Agriculture and Food in 1973. He pursues his career at University Laval in 1977 as a teacher in food marketing and distribution. More than 130 students graduated at the master and Ph.D levels under his supervision since that. He has been invited speaker for more than 600 speaches in Canada and around the world. In 2006, he co-authored a book published by Chenelière, Markegting and Services.

He has chaired the Department of Agricultural Economics between 1995 and 1999. He became Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food at once between 1999 and 2003. He has realized a second mandate as Dean of the Faculty between 2011 and 2015 and is still the Dean for a third mandate until 2019.

He has been expert consultant for many companies and Ministry. He also acted as member of several Boards of administrators of many food processing companies, risk capital investors, and marketing consultants.

Jean-Claude Dufour is member of l’Ordre des Agronomes du Québec (1971) and the Food Distribution Research Society (1984) where he took the Presidency of the World congress in 2005. In 2001, he has been honoured of «le mérite interprofessionnel» by l’Office des professions du Québec and l’Ordre des agronomes du Québec (OAQ). In June 2011, he has been officially recognized «Commandeur de l’Ordre du Mérite Agronomique» by l’OAQ. In 2015 the Quebec Food Processing Council recognized him as the food personality of the year giving him «Le Trophé André Latour».

Marie Horodecki-Aymes est Directrice, Design et Emballage – Metro Brands. Titulaire d’une double maitrise en Finances et en data marketing, Marie a plus de 25 ans d’expérience dans le secteur de l’alimentation. Avant de joindre l’équipe Metro, Marie a occupé divers postes de direction dans le secteur du commerce alimentaire, telles que directrice du développement de la marque privée, directrice de la stratégie des marques, directrice mise en marché , leader de la stratégie et de la responsabilité d’entreprise en France, en Italie et en Belgique. Marie est passionnée par l’évolution des consommateurs et des tendances alimentaires au Quebec, au Canada et dans le monde.

Travaillant depuis plus de 15 ans au bureau montréalais de Nielsen, Francis est Vice-président, Est-du-Canada depuis 4 ans et se retrouve ainsi responsable des équipes en charge des relations avec les détaillants et les manufacturiers pour l’Est-du-Canada. Il est également impliqué dans plusieurs initiatives, cherchant des nouvelles façons de collaborer avec différents partenaires. Curieux de nature, ses collègues et clients apprécient sa grande connaissance des tendances consommateurs et vente au détail, tant à l’échelle locale qu’internationale.

Biographical Sketch

Marie Beaudry gère l’organisation Aliments du Québec depuis maintenant 8 ans, à titre de directrice générale. Elle veille au développement de l’organisation, au rayonnement des marques «Aliments du Québec», «Aliments préparés au Québec» et de leurs déclinaisons bios respectives en plus d’assurer la promotion des produits agroalimentaires québécois auprès des consommateurs et de l’industrie.

Forte de plus de 21 années d’expérience dans le secteur, elle a occupé divers postes marketing auprès d’entreprises privées dont Montpak International et a aussi œuvré auprès d’organisations telles que le Groupe Export agroalimentaire et Estrie International 2007.

Tout ce parcours lui a permis de développer une solide expertise en alimentation et en stratégies de promotion, en plus d’un bagage important en gestion et en gestion de marques.

Biographical Sketch

Arnaud est un jeune chef passionné et un entrepreneur déterminé. En 2010, il est finaliste de l’émission Les Chefs! ; une compétition féroce où se mesurent dépassement de soi et talent culinaire. En 2015, il lance sa gamme de produits MQparAM, des produits boréaux produits par Morille Québec et élaborés par le chef lui-même. Il partage régulièrement ses talents avec les plateaux de télévision et est en constante recherche d’innovation pour sa passion culinaire. Arnaud Marchand est aussi très impliqué socialement et apporte son support à plusieurs causes telles que Autisme Québec et Opération Enfant Soleil.
